Virtual Assistant Marketing 101 - Social Networking
First of all, what is social networking? Simply put, it’s the online version of what we do offline to network with other people. For example, when you’re networking offline for your business, you may attend networking events and exchange business cards. Or if you’re networking socially, you might join a local sporting club or other hobby club.
When you’re networking online, you join social networking sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn to meet others. Millions of people worldwide are involved with social networking and it’s a medium that’s growing day by day.
Social networking is not only for teenagers and younger people. It can be used by online businesses to generate huge amounts of traffic, a strong customer following and to bring in more clients.
Many of the top online businesses use social networking as a very effective part of their marketing strategy. As a Virtual Assistant, you should be doing the same for your business.
When you join a social networking website, you can set up a profile (including your photo and links to your websites) and start getting involved. Search for people you know in the offline world and invite them to become your friend. Join groups related to your target market and invite people within those groups to become your friend. Look for people who have similar interests to you and connect with them.
Keep building your list of friends as you go along. Before long, you’ll have lots of online friends that you can exchange information with and get to know on a more personal level. You never know – some may need your VA services sooner or later, or they may have a friend that does.
You can even create your own group and take a more proactive approach. You’ll then be connected to a large group of people that you can provide useful information to on a regular basis. This is a perfect way to stay in touch so that when/if they are ready to use a Virtual Assistant they’ll think of you first.
As you can see, social networking is a very powerful form of marketing and essential in the current online business world. So jump in, join a couple of the top sites and start social networking right away. You’ll have fun and your business will thank you for it!
